Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Max McGregor (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles your information when you use the Ripe mobile application (the “App”).

What we collect

One thing, and only if you choose to give it: an email address (see “Email, if you share it” below). Beyond that, nothing. Ripe has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. The App’s seasonal answer works fully offline and never phones home.

Email, if you share it

Two places in Ripe invite you to leave an email address — the About screen and the post-purchase thank-you screen. Both are optional; skipping them changes nothing about how the App works.

• If you enter an address, the App sends it to our server, tagged as coming from Ripe. That is the App’s only network call to us.
• We use it to send a short welcome note and occasional news when we ship something new. No newsletter schedule, no third-party marketing. We never sell or share it.
• Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can write to contact@bbmaxwell.dev at any time to have your address deleted.

Location

Ripe is most useful when it knows which US state you’re in, so it can show what’s in season in your growing region. Using your location is optional:

• If you tap “Use my location,” Ripe asks iOS for a single location reading.
• To turn that reading into a US state, the App uses Apple’s built-in geocoding on iOS. That step may send the coordinate to Apple’s geocoding service, which is governed by Apple’s privacy policy. The coordinate is never sent to us.
• Once a state is determined, Ripe keeps only the resulting region (for example, northeast). The coordinate itself is not stored.

You can skip location entirely and pick your state by hand. Ripe works the same either way.

What is stored on your device

A small handful of preferences, on your device only:

• Your chosen region.
• Your theme preference (light, dark, or follow system).
• Your progress through the welcome screens, including the answer you pick on the “Why are you here?” screen — it stays on the device and is never sent anywhere.
• Your one-time purchase unlock.
• Whether you’ve already shared your email, so the App doesn’t ask twice.

Nothing else is written, and nothing is synced. Uninstalling the App removes it.

Purchases

Ripe offers a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks the App for life. The purchase is processed entirely by Apple’s StoreKit. We never see your payment details. Apple’s privacy policy governs that transaction.

Children’s privacy

Ripe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be noted in the App’s release notes.
